The Triple Goddess, believed by the ancients to control the fates, the first aspect was Creation, Urd, The Earth Mother. The second aspect was Verhandi, Becoming, and Skuld the last aspect Shall be, or Fate. These aspects could be seen everywhere, in the phases of the moon, Waxing, Full and Waning. In the planting of the field, watching the crops ripen then the barren time of winter awaiting the renewal of the fields in spring.
The Saxons called Skuld, Skadi, When the Romans Latinized her name to Scotia, Scandinavia and Scotland were named after her. Possibly due to the cold harsh winters of those lands.
